British Para-tri Champs and the Speedo Big Triathlon

Melissa and Alice (her guide) headed up to Nottingham last Saturday (26th May 2012) for the British Para-triathlon Championships, along with Tash Mundell and Allan Reid who raced in the Speedo Big Triathlon.

After a well placed second in the European Champs, Melissa went one better and won the gold medal, beating the World and European Champion. Leading from the start, Melissa exited the swim with a good lead and maintained a gap thanks to the upgraded Dawes Touring Tandem, kindly lent to the pair by Cycle Logic of Helston.

In Israel Melissa was caught on the run, but following some good training sessions leading up to the race, she crossed the line in first place, over 1 minute clear of Charlotte Ellis. Not only did Melissa win the Tri6 category, she was also the first female home with a time of 1:13:47!

Melissa is now looking forward to attending the Paralympic Inspiration Programme, and is preparing for the World Championships in New Zealand later this year. If your business could help to fund this trip, please get in touch.

Allan and Tash also had a good races, finishing 4th and 6th respectively in their age-groups.
