Cornish Nipper Frostbite Champs

Well, what an exciting couple of weeks for Gylly at St Ives and what a result – 4th place overall, up from 7th last year!  Congratulations to all the nippers involved and thanks to all the parents and other assorted helpers.

The Gylly team got off to a great start on the first Saturday, with the 8 to 10’s scoring at least one medal in every event except the tube rescue (4th by just one second) and finishing the day in 3rd place.  It was a great team display with 17 out of the team of 21 scoring points for the club and with many outstanding individual performances.

That was always going to be a tough act for the older ones to follow, but the 11 to 13’s did the club proud for a second week, almost equalling the success of their younger team mates, with 12 out of 19 scoring points and finishing up with a comfortable 4th place overall.  Again, performances to be proud of in both the team and individual events and but for a couple of bits of bad luck in the relays, Gylly would have been snapping at the heels of 3rd placed Hayle.  Well done to St Ives, in awesome form, holding off Portreath to take the title by a whisker.

Medals and final results should be available at training on 19 March – well done to all.
