Thanks to Human Race events management, Melissa Reid and Alice Nicholas were offered a free place in the sprint triathlon at the Cornwall Festival of Sport, Marazion. The pair were using the opportunity as a final race before the World Para-triathlon Champs in New Zealand later this month. They were racing against non-disabled competitors from around the country including local and ex Gyly elite triathlete, David Bartlett. Although the course wasn’t made for a tandem (some very sharp bends + even a bridge to run over), they finished second female. Although number 1 in Great Britain, this was Melissa and Alice’s 4th competetive race together. Melissa said there were some good positives to take towards New Zealand, “I was the first female out of the sea after a strong swim and we had a solid run as well”.
