There were 120 competitors, from as far afield as Czech Republic, Austria and Germany, at the Lower Wharf, Bude Canal, for a morning start for this ultra-extreme event. The race makes the most of the dramatic North Cornish coastline and the historic canal.

An Aquathon is the swim and run parts of a triathlon, with the run on the beach, and the participants had to contend with crashing surf and squalls strong enough to take out marquees on frames.

Well done to Thomas Trebilcock, Connie Hatcher and Rosie Boulton who entered the Redruth Mini Triathlon last weekend.
