Georgia Christophers and Orion Page have been members of Gyllyngvase SLSC pretty much since we established in 2008. They have gone through the nipper age-groups, into youth and then open. They have both qualified as surf lifeguards and volunteered as lifeguards for the RNLI, as well as competing in the sport at national and international competitions. They have also served as club captains for the past 3 years.
With regret, they are both standing down this year due to other commitments. I’m sure everyone will join me in thanking them for their amazing service towards the club and surf life saving in Cornwall.
We are now on the look out for the next club captains to follow on from Georgia and Orion.
There are 2 positions available, one male and one female. Both are voting members of the committee and are expected to attend club meetings when possible. Therefore, you will need to be 16+ to apply. The role involves publishing the Captains Rules, assisting the Lifesaving Sport Rep. with the selection of teams and acting as role-models for all club members.
If you are interested, please put together a submission of interest on one-side of A4, stating why you are interested in the position and what you will bring to the role of club captain. These need to be sent to Matthew Stone (matt@gyllysurf.org.uk) by Friday 16th February. If you have any questions, speak to me or a member of the committee.
Thanks again to Georgia and Orion!
Matt Stone, chairman.
