President / Fundraising Co-ordinator / Press Officer – Matthew Stone

Matthew has been involved in surf life saving for a number of years and co-founded the club in October 2008. He currently works as a beach lifeguard throughout the summer and a graphic designer in the winter, while volunteering with many non-profit organizations and local schools. He has been involved in sport from a young age; as a former county tennis and badminton player he turned his attention to martial arts, competing internationally. Recently he has grown an interest in endurance racing, competing in triathlons and marathons. He is entering the 2011 UK Ironman and is planning to cycle around Europe on a tandem. matt@gyllysurf.org.uk

Will has been involved with surf life saving since he was 10 so therefore has had the benefit of growing up and developing his skills up through nippers and juniors, he is also a founding member of the club and remains on the committee as gear steward. Will has completed an apprenticeship in light marine engineering, and has worked for Marine Trak Engineering in Mylor for around four years in between school and college! He also has an interest in sailing both dingy and keelboats and races regularly throughout much of the year, and his passion for dirtying and repairing his Land Rover takes up the rest of the time!
