Chair – Matthew Stone

Matthew has been involved in surf life saving for a number of years and co-founded the club in October 2008, where he remains as chairman. He has worked as a senior beach lifeguard with the RNLI throughout the summer months for the past 8 years and freelances as a designer in the winter. Matthew is a qualified SLSGB beach lifeguard trainer/assessor and runs several courses throughout the year, as well as coaching the masters team. He has been involved in sport from a young age; as a former county racket sports player he turned his attention to martial arts, competing internationally. He also has an interest in endurance racing, competing in triathlons and marathons. He is an Ironman triathlete, has completed 9 marathons and has finished 3rd at the Europeon Quadrathlon Championships. matt@gyllysurf.org.uk

Will has been involved with surf life saving since he was 10 so therefore has had the benefit of growing up and developing his skills up through nippers and juniors, he is also a founding member of the club and remains on the committee as gear steward. Will has completed an apprenticeship in light marine engineering, and has worked for Marine Trak Engineering in Mylor for around four years in between school and college! He also has an interest in sailing both dingy and keelboats and races regularly throughout much of the year, and his passion for dirtying and repairing his Land Rover takes up the rest of the time!
