Triathlon

Swim. Bike. Run. Rescue! This is the club’s motto. We have a strong triathlon background at Gylly SLSC. Many of our members join solely for this side of the club, however, they soon realise that Life Saving and Triathlon cross over in so many ways that they end up competing in both.

The main difference for those unfamiliar with the sport is that Triathlon comprises of a bike element as well as the more familiar Life Saving Sport disciplines of swimming and running.

We believe that training in a number of related sports can only enhance your skills and performance. We carry out regular triathlon sessions, comprising of club cycles, track sessions, pool and open water swims, club runs and turbo training groups. All of our junior and adult members are encouraged to come along and join in. Most of our sessions are at no extra cost to members, apart from those requiring pool/room hire etc. If you would like to train with the club on bikes, then you will have to join British Triathlon for insurance purposes. We offer a reduced membership to British Triathlon. There is an option to select this on the membership form and the membership secretary will contact you.

We give all members the chance to compete for the club in road running, cross-country, biathlon, aquathlon and triathlon races and have previously had members enter the UK Ironman and Lonon Marathon. Swimming is our strongest background, and we are lucky to have the Cornwall County swimming coach onboard as our own head coach. The likes of Dave Bartlett (1st @ Perranporth Triathlon, 2010) and Emily Trebilcock (1st @ Penzance Aquathlon Series, 2009) have come through our club and we are steadily growing to become one of Cornwall’s most successful Triathlon clubs. If you are new to the sport, an established triathlete or simply wanting to get fitter, we are a club that can accommodate you.
