Dawn to Dusk Board Paddle

Thanks to everyone who paddled, supported and fund-raised at Saturday’s Dawn to Dusk board paddle. Around half a dozen hardy paddlers entered the water at 6am, paddling around the 800m course. Every half an hour a new Gylly paddler joined the course, and by 8.45pm we had achieved a dawn to dusk board paddle. The wind did pick up through the day with a couple of showers were thrown in too, but that didn’t dampen spirits. The final paddle was completed by Gylly juniors + seniors, just as the sun went below the horizon.

The event was organised by nipper coach Matthew Trebilcock, and was a fundraiser for our very own international para-triathlete Melissa Reid and the RNLI charity. As soon as the money is counted we’ll let you know the final amount raised. Both groups are very grateful for everyone’s support.

“Thanks so much to everyone who has supported me during this event. It costs a lot of money to compete internationally and without everyone’s help, I won’t be able to achieve my goals and make Gylly and Cornwall proud. Big thanks to Matt Trebilcock for organising the event, Rob on the BBQ and Michelle for the face painting. Finally, thanks for everyone who paddled the course – my shoulders still hurt!” Melissa Reid, Junior coach and GB Para-triathlete
